How does katniss everdeen act

The fact that Katniss immediately reacts this way when Prim's name is pulled says a lot about her character, and it's a big part of why the people of Panem become so inspired by her actions.

Yet the two help one another, and after Rue dies, Katniss honors her memory, even if it puts her in danger of being discovered by the other tributes. Taking the time to bury Rue beneath flowers and salute District 11 isn't something most of the other tributes would do.

But Katniss respects human life too much not to, especially when it's the life of someone she respects or cares about. Although Katniss and Peeta spend most of their first Hunger Games as allies, there's no rule saying both of them have to survive. When Peeta comes down with a fever, it might have been in Katniss' favor to leave him behind and survive on her own -- but instead she ventures to the cornucopia to find medicine for him.

Katniss is almost killed by the career pack at the cornucopia too, so she really puts her own life at risk to save Peeta's. And there's little benefit at this point in time, except for the fact that she cares about Peeta and doesn't want to see him die. Once again, when it's announced that only one tribute can live at the end of the Hunger Games, Katniss could easily have killed Peeta and won.

Instead, she agrees to go down with him, suggesting they both eat the poisonous berries they found in the arena. Although this would mean Katniss won't survive, she puts her integrity and relationship with Peeta before her own life here. It saves them, but she doesn't know that at the time.

She experiments with the automatic gadgets, When Katniss arrives, she sees that the stylists will be joining them for dinner in order to A red-haired girl comes to set a cake on the table, and when Katniss turns to ask her a question, she finds that she recognizes the girl. She blurts Katniss finally recalls who the girl is, but senses that she should conceal this knowledge. Haymitch comments that the handholding is the perfect touch of rebellion, which gives Katniss pause.

She realizes that the other tributes stood stiffly next to each other, not touching, Katniss hesitates, and Peeta, sensing her hesitation, suggests that Katniss explains that she and Gale had been hunting in the woods one day, hiding as Katniss believes that the girl and the boy were from the Capitol from the way they Peeta and Katniss return indoors and say goodnight. When Katniss enters her room, the red-haired girl is there, Chapter 7. Katniss sleeps fitfully, with nightmares, and when she drags herself into the shower in the morning, Katniss serves herself breakfast and eats while thinking about what Prim and her mother might be Haymitch advises Peeta and Katniss to save their special skills for their private sessions with the Gamemakers.

Katniss marches off to her room, angry that she and Peeta are being forced to act As the trainer talks, Katniss observes the other tributes and notes that most of them are larger than her. Peeta and Katniss decide to go to the knot-tying station, followed by a camouflage station that Peeta seems She follows them from station to station, and she reminds Katniss of Prim.

On the District 12 floor, Effie and Haymitch have teamed up to tell Chapter 8. As Katniss strides back to her room, she begins sobbing, terrified that the Gamemakers will punish her When Effie calls Katniss down to dinner, Katniss decides to go. Everyone is seated at the table, including Cinna Finally, Katniss reveals what she did in the private session, and everyone at the table stops eating In the morning, Katniss imagines what Gale might be doing back home.

She recalls the first time she met Chapter 9. Katniss feels betrayed at first, but she realizes that she and Peeta will soon be trying In frustration, Katniss smashes all the plates in her room that night, and the red-haired girl is surprised In the morning, the prep team gets Katniss ready for her interview.

Chapter Katniss is shocked and looks down to avoid the cameras. After the tributes return to their Effie actually has tears in her eyes, and Haymitch again repeats This rubs Katniss the wrong way, and she snaps at Peeta before turning and heading back to her When the hovercraft lands, Cinna and Katniss find themselves in a room below the arena, where Katniss changes into the outfit she Haymitch had advised Peeta and Katniss to avoid the Cornucopia and instead run for safety, but Katniss hesitates when she sees When the gong rings out, Katniss misses the moment to dash for the Cornucopia and instead grabs a nearby sheet of Katniss examines the contents of her pack, finding a sleeping bag and some crackers and dried Katniss dozes off only to be awakened a few hours later by the sound of branches One voice says that When Peeta runs back to finish off the girl, Katniss overhears the Career Tributes discussing whether they should kill him or not.

It seems that Before Katniss leaves the area, she checks her snare traps and finds one rabbit. She returns to She believes she Katniss grabs her sleeping bag, which contains her backpack and water bottle, and runs.

However, Katniss Katniss finds herself near a pond, where she allows the water to cool her burns. Katniss settles in for the night, aware that the Careers are still waiting below the tree Katniss devises a plan to cut down the branch on which the nest hangs. She believes When Katniss awakens in the morning, she sees that all of the members of the Career pack Katniss is hallucinating severely because of the tracker jacker stings, and the trees around her seem Katniss continues to hallucinate as she stumbles away, vaguely aware that someone—possibly she—is screaming.

Finally, she The tracker jacker venom causes Katniss to have nightmares about Prim and her father getting hurt, as well as having her Katniss sips her water and puts more ointment on her burns, realizing that she needs to Katniss smiles and offers to make an alliance with Rue.

She also offers Rue some meat, Rue and Katniss lay out their food and materials to share, and Rue recognizes the strange sunglasses from This helps Katniss formulate a plan. Rue falls asleep immediately after snuggling into the sleeping bag with Katniss , and Katniss feels similarly that she can trust Rue. Katniss falls asleep as well, and Rue and Katniss formulate a plan that involves Rue distracting the Careers by creating a series of fires Katniss heads off to spy on the Careers and notices that their setup is very strange Katniss tries to decide what she should do about the knowledge.

If she sends off only They light a torch and head into the woods to hunt for the bomber. Katniss , meanwhile, dons her night vision glasses and snacks on some of the greens and nuts In the morning, Katniss awakens to hear laughter and realizes that she has hearing back in her right ear Katniss follows the stream back to the site where she said she would meet Rue.

By late afternoon, Katniss decides to look for Rue. Cameras are on her every move at every minute; unfortunately, though, she's not funny or charming or even particularly telegenic.

As Haymitch puts it, whenever she opens her mouth, she comes across as "sullen and hostile" 9. She's like a Panem version of Kristen Stewart. So, Katniss must learn the importance of public image, celebrity, and creating a persona. With the help of her stylist, Cinna, she'll wear a series of spectacular gowns with which she'll be able to woo and wow the crowds at the Opening Ceremonies.

Likewise, by following Haymitch's coaching and advice, she learns to manipulate the at-home audiences of the Hunger Games by playing up the supposed romance plot with her co-tribute Peeta. Once she's made into Peeta's object of love, she secures a powerful place in the hearts of the audience. It's all how you're perceived. The most I could say about you after your interview was that you were nice enough, although that in itself was s small miracle.

Now I can say you're a heartbreaker. Oh, oh, oh, how the boys back home fall longingly at your feet. Which do you think will get you more sponsors? Katniss becomes a pro at playing the game of celebrity, and at playing the audiences and sponsors of the Hunger Games.

But she'll also learn that the distinctions between what's real and what's not can sometimes blur. Cinna is Katniss's fabulous stylist in the Capitol, and the image that he creates for her is designed around the concept of drumroll please FIRE! More specifically, being on fire. Cinna accomplishes this feat through gowns that shimmer and elaborate capes that are set off in flames. Take, for example, Katniss's getup at the inaugural event of the Games: Every head is turned our way, pulling the focus from the three chariots ahead of us.

At first, I'm frozen, but then I catch sight of us on a large television screen and am floored by how breathtaking we look. In the deepening twilight, the firelight illuminates our faces. The flaming spectacle has mass appeal and the crowd goes wild. Katniss's girl on fire bit is a hit. But, while Katniss might literally be on fire in Cinna's dresses, we should also remember that she is on fire in other ways too. She's rebellious, for one thing.

Remember when she shot her arrow through the apple in the pig's mouth during her private training sessions with the Gamemakers Chapter 7? Or when she defiantly covered Rue's body with flowers Chapter 18? Or when she attempts a double suicide with Peeta at the climax of the Hunger Games Chapter 25? Katniss has a temper that just won't quit, and her defiance, she learns, can be a huge asset in the arena. Being on fire with her own personal brand of rebellion can be even more powerful than one of Cinna's amazing dresses.

Her defiance brands her as spectacular and appealing…and dangerous. Gale is the only person in Katniss's life around whom she can be herself 1.

Katniss doesn't develop her feelings for Gale, though, because she knows her family counts on her to survive — and that life in the Seam is difficult. Her conversation with him about the need to provide for her family — and her disinterest in having children — neatly illustrates that point 1. Katniss Everdeen's photo gallery.
